Event organised by the Common Folk Club based at The Regent, Leicester.
Boxing Day
With thanks to our hosts Stuart Broad and Harry Gurney and their Cat & Wickets Pub Company we perform Border Morris dances for an hour and a half or so, with the odd beer break, in out winter guise as Red Leicester and at some point include a performance of the Sproxton Wooing Play*. Throughout our performance we will encourage our audience to contribute to our collection for Rainbows Childrens’ Hospice - last year we raised £500!
Whittlesea Straw Bear
Leicester Morris, in our Winter guise as Red Leicester, are proud to join a procession of over 250 dancers, musicians and performers from various parts of the British Isles performing traditional 'Molly', 'Morris', 'Clog' and 'Sword. all following a decorated plough is pulled by 21st century plough boys. Throughout the day alongside the Morris performers there are American style 'Appalachian' dancing, street performances and Mummers plays.
